Don't lie...if you grew up in the eighties like I did, you know you love this movie, just as much as I do? As cheesy as it may have been and regardless of what the critics say about it, it is still one of the guiltiest pleasures of all time. I'm sure, just like me, whenever it comes on tv you still watch it and still wish you were just as cool as Michelle Pfeiffer in that "Pink Lady" jacket.
I was obsessed with this movie! I thought Stephanie Zinone was the coolest chick to ever exist. She was the one who made me want to be a "Pink Lady". I saw the sequel before the original, I was probably about 3 years old when this one came out. According to many resources on the web, it was a disaster and although it may not be near as good as the original, I think it was more successful than the critics realize.
Let's face it, the eighties were a cheesy time. Even the movies I use to love back then, that were box office hits are cheesy when I watch them today. That doesn't matter though, they are still so enjoyable to watch. This film had an impact on most people from my generation, in many ways. This was the film that put a very young newcomer by the name of Michelle Pfeiffer on the map, she was literally an overnight sensation, because of it.
I was flipping through the channels Saturday afternoon, nothing was on...and I mean nothing. Then, there it was, a big part of my childhood. I was stoked! While watching it, it did make laugh quite a bit, because it was pretty cheesy. It is still a lot of fun to watch and it always takes me back to the good ol' days. Of course by the time I discovered it was on and had turned to it, it was already almost over. However, I did get to see the "T-Birds" go prowlin and the talent show which was one of my favorite parts of the film back then. Who doesn't remember, "The Girls for All Seasons"?
So, we know Michelle Pfeiffer went on to do many great things, but what about the rest of the cast? Let's see what they have been up to...
*Then and Now*
Michelle Pfeiffer as Stephanie Zinone
She is still drop-dead-gorgeous and is still one of my favorite actresses to date. It has been a while since she's done a movie, but she's had some really good ones. I loved Witches of Eastwick, that's probably my favorite of all of her films.
Maxwell Caulfield as Michael Carrington
According to many critics on the Internet, Maxwell Caulfield fizzled after the eighties, and while the projects he has done since then may not have been as successful as Grease 2, if you read his IMDB profile you will see that he is still acting. A lot of actors do fizzle and you never hear from them again, but you can't say that about Caulfield. He's like a one hit wonder, and that's not necessarily a bad thing. Every once in a while he makes cameos in films and everybody knows who he is, because of that one part he played. He's one of those risk takers, who is not afraid to take on the B projects and I personally admire actors who do that. I think Mr. Caulfied has done very well over the years.
*Facts*
Maxwell is the step-father of actress Melissa Caulfied and is married to Hayley Mills sister Juliet. There is an eighteen year difference in age between the two, he was born in 59 and she in 41. They have been married since 1980.
His step-father kicked him out of the house when he was 15 years old, he was forced to make it on his own. Considering his circumstances, I think he has succeeded in doing just that.
Lorna Luft as Paulette Rebchuck
Lorna Luft is the daughter of Judy Garland and producer Sidney Luft, which makes her Liza Minnelli's half-sister. After her parents divorce, Luft was forced to face her mothers addiction and became her care-giver. Eventually, she left home after a mental breakdown, because of her mothers illness. Several months later, her mother overdosed and died. After dealing with the death of her mother, she decided to follow in she and Liza's footsteps and got into show business. Though she may not have been as successful as either, she has done some films which include Grease 2, Studio 54 and Where the Boys Are, and has also appeared on broadway.
Lorna with mom and legendary actress "Judy Garland".
Lorna with her mom and half-sister Liza Minnelli.
Maureen Teefy as Sharon Cooper
Maureen is a stage, film and television actress, a voice-over artist, playwright, musician and dancer. Aside from Grease 2 and a few projects Teefy has lived a pretty quiet normal life.
Alison Price as Rhonda Ritter
Alison left the acting business to pursue the restaurant business, she owns Alison in Bridgehampton, New York.
Pamela Adlon as Delores Rebchuck
(One of my favorites and one of the most memorable characters of the film. She looks pretty good.)
There wasn't any info, but it looks like she has had a very successful acting career and is still in the biz. She just completed a few post-productions called "9 Full Moons" and "Conception". She also stars as Marcy on "Californication" and has been on the show since 2007.
Adrian Zmed as Johnny Nogerelli
(This guy drove my dad nuts, don't ask me why. I admit though, I had a bit of a crush on "Johnny Nogerelli".)
Adrian is best known for his role as Johnny Nogerelli, and also for T.J. Hooker where he played officer Vince Romano. Back in January of 2009 he had his own show on Princess Cruise Lines. He was also on a reality show on VH1, I have no idea what it was called, he was on it with Jeremy Jackson and other struggling former actors and teen hearth throbs who were trying to make comebacks.
Peter Frechette as Louis DiMucci
(Louis DiMucci was my favorite of the "T Birds" and I had a major crush on him.)
Peter Freschette has guest starred on several hit TV shows such as "L.A. Law", "Picket Fences", "Thirtysomething", and was a regular on shows such as "Dream Street" and on "Profiler" as George Fraley.
Christopher McDonald as Goose McKenzie
(I could not find any photos of him as Goose.)
Christopher McDonald has been in 85 films and has appeared on numerous TV shows as well as theater productions. You may recognize him from his appearances on shows such as "Numb3rs", "Law & Order", and "The Sapranos" and from films "The House Bunny" as Dean Simmons, "The Perfect Storm", "The Skulls", and "The Faculty". He's been in a lot of stuff.
Leif Green as Davey Jaworski
There wasn't any information about him as far as what he is up to now. Not sure where he is these days. He was quite the cutie back then.
Other Memorable characters...remember them?
Connie Stevens as the lovely, Miss Mason.
Eddie Deezen who was in the first film as Eugene Felnic.
The twins, Jean and Liz Sagal.
Recognize the last name? Yep, that's right, they are the younger siblings of actress Katey Sagal.
