*The Basics*
I want to show you all how the program works, and also keep you updated on the MIT's progress. The MIT's are given mock assignments that give them the chance to practice and learn how to pose and all of the other things they need to know. This will give you the opportunity to see their transformations as they go through the process.
Tabbie and Kaylah have both completed mock assignments 1 and 2. Right now they are learning the basics, they are getting use to posing and are getting to know their angles. They are also learning how to photograph themselves and are having to use features on their cameras that they have either never used or don't use very often. Currently they are both doing assignment 3 and they have started using the timer and I think that's going to help them out a lot.
The problem with not using the timer is their arms getting tired from holding the camera and also keeping the camera still. This can cause the pictures to turn out blurry and out of focus. A lot of times they don't get the right angle, so the pictures turn out to be a bit awkward. So, I have encouraged them to start using the timer, so that they can free up their hands, and give themselves more freedom.
They have both been working very hard and are very serious about the training. I've been very impressed with their enthusiastic attitudes. On Friday, I will be sending them each 2 rewards that they have earned already. Although, they still have a lot of work to do and still need to practice, practice, practice, I have seen progress already, in just a short amount of time.
I wanted to show you how they did with the first 2 assignments and give you a better idea about what all goes into the process. This is a very challenging experience and a learning process. I am going to share their struggles with you and let you know what they are doing to correct them.
Some girls learn faster than others, some assignments are more challenging than other assignments. They may do better on one assignment and not so well on the other. It's all part of the process.
I am very proud of these girls and I will never give up on them no matter how long it takes them to get it. As long as I know for a fact that they are trying, and are taking it seriously and really want learn, I won't ever give up on anyone who joins the MIT program. I am in no way picking on them, they are just starting out. This is kind of like a before and after thing, you will get to see them go from now to then, struggles and all.
If you want to leave comments you are more than welcome, you are welcome to share your opinions, suggestions, or words of encouragement. I just ask that you keep it friendly and constructive.
Also, if you notice that one girl receives more props than the other, it is not because I favor one over the other. Sometimes one will do better on an assignment than the other girl, and then the one who struggled the most on that assignment ends up doing better on the next and the other girl struggles more. Again, it's all part of the process. Each person has their own struggles and each person has their own strengths.
Mock Assignment #1
Tabbies biggest struggle coming into this was her lack of confidence and lack of expression, you will notice a void in her eyes, in a lot of her photos.
She was not comfortable smiling for the camera, which is something a lot of people struggle with.
Her other struggle is posture. I think once she improves her posture it will make a huge difference. She also had a habit of tensing up her mouth and I encouraged to relax them more and I also suggested that she tone it down on the eyeliner.
Another issue was keeping the camera still, which caused the photos to come out blurry.
I also have encouraged her to use better backgrounds and better lighting. In some of the photos, some of the things behind her were too distracting. The first thing I noticed was the air freshner on the shelf behind her. It distracted me from her. The picture itself, I thought was one of her best shots. If that one little thing hadn't been there, it would have been much better.
These were my favorites:
I really like this picture, even though there is lack of expression. It gave me a good look at her unique features and I was able to figure out which are her best ones. In a lot of her photos she was tensing up her face and mouth and here she is more relaxed and natural.
Aside from the heavy eyeliner, I thought this was one of her better photos. I like the wind blowing in her hair, she seems more relaxed and I don't see as much of a void here.
Kaylah did very well on assignment 1. She took some very good pictures, that I was impressed with.
One thing she did struggle with was lack of expression. Like Tabbie, there was also that void in her eyes as well.
Some of the angles were a little awkward and in some of the photos you could tell she was taking the pictures herself, because you can see the extended arm.
She also had a hard time keeping the camera still and some of the photos were blurry and out of focus.
Some of the photos made her appear flushed and she had a lot of those yellow tones you get when you use the flash. She wasn't using the flash, it was just some technical issues that she really couldn't help.
Her outdoor photos were her best shots, the natural lighting can make such a big difference.
These were my favorites:
Assignment #2
For this assignment, I gave the MIT's photos of models from supermodels.nl to use for inspiration. I picked angles that I thought might work for them and had them try those angles. I'm not going to show you the photos I gave them, but I will share the photos that they took for it and share how I thought they did.
Tabbie did much better with this one. She was much more relaxed and appeared to be much more comfortable.
She did go a little artsy fartsy on a few of them and I wasn't particularly crazy about them, but I do give her props for having fun. The one above really isn't that bad the more I look at it.
These were my favorite shots that she took for the assignment. She appears to be more relaxed and more confident in these photos. I like for the girls to be able to look in different directions in their pictures. I would like for her to be able to show me that same confidence when she is looking directly at the camera. I thought her hair looked really pretty in these photos.
Kaylah still struggled with expression, that void was still there in many of the photos, even some of the ones I really liked...
I think these are very good pictures, there's just something missing.
These were my favorite shots, I thought she did a really good job on these:
If it weren't for the extended arm, it would have been even better.
I can already see them improving. They are currently working on the 3rd assignment and they have made very good progress. They are both very determined to learn and are both very dedicated to the program. I can't wait to show you more.
