Bad Day At Kohls

I love Polka Dots, but this is just
gross! And, what is up with
that gigantic bow!
Normally my trips to Kohls are pretty disappointing, they have some cute garments for the more dressy occassions, but there really aren't a lot of options when it comes to casual wear. Still, I usually find at least 1 or 2 stylish garments that I can wear for any occassion. That wasn't the case on Saturday when I was looking for something to wear for my evening out with the girls. I left the store not only empty handed but totally bummed! Being unemployed and not having the money to splurge is depressing so I was excited when I recieved money for Christmas and decided I would use some of it on clothes which I need for job searching and to go out in. At the moment my wardrobe is not very up-to-date and I have put on a few pounds and I only have one pair of jeans that fit right now.

Having money turned out to be pretty pointless. I guess in a way it's not such a bad thing, at least I still have money to spend when I need to and hopefully I will have much better luck elsewhere. I was looking for a nice pair of jeans that I could dress up and also to just wear casually and a nice top to go with them. Being that I am short and don't have Supermodel legs and have hips and a bum it makes it difficult to find pants that fit or flatter my figure. I pulled 3 pairs of jeans from the shelves that I had found, none of which I was all that thrilled with. Maybe I'm just really picky, but I really hate the back pockets they put on them now a days. Are those silly looking squiggly lines and zig-zags really necessary? I don't really like anything on my pockets, I hate any kind of label like that stupid one Guess uses or use to use (not sure if they still do that or not).

See what I mean about the pockets? I hate that!

I tried the first pair on and could not even get them over my hips. What happened to the stretchy jeans? They were so comfortable and it was so much easier to try them on and get them back off. And not to brag, but they made my bum look really good. Why did they stop making those? In any event, at that point I just decided to give up on the jeans altogether, I lost my energy and wasn't about to try on all 3 pairs. And those mirrors do nothing for anyones self-esteem. You could be the most confident individual in the world, but after seeing yourself in those mirrors you leave the store thinking you are the most unattractive looking person on the planet. I know I have put on weight and if you saw me you would think my skin had never seen the sun, but I do not have that much cellulite and I don't think I'm that pasty either. Not only do those mirrors and that awful lighting make your skin look pasty, it also makes it look yellowish as if you have jaundice or something. Yuck!

After my jean drama I decided to move on. I looked through the entire store hoping to find a nice sweater or shirt to go with the one pair of jeans I have that actually do fit me, but no luck there either. I was pretty appalled with the color sellection and I don't think I have ever seen such ugly prints and patterns. Seriously, it looked like my cats threw up all over half of the garments in the store. Not only were the colors hideous the clothes themselves were just not becoming at all. Oh and the handbag and shoe sellection is ridiculous.

Examples...

Mudd Ribbed Henley Top

SONOMA life + style Striped Sweater

So, I guess you could say it was a bad day at Kohls, but it all worked out in the end. I found a sweater I bought last year and it worked out just fine with the pieces I paired with it. I would much rather wear things I have had for the past 3-5 years than be caught dead in any of the new stuff I've been seeing lately. Is it just me or has Kohls just gone completely fug?

I'd like to hear from you. Tell me about your shopping experiences at Kohls. What do you think of their products and what was the last thing you bought from the store? Were you happy with your purchase? Feel free to take and submit photos of what you have bought or you can even model them? Maybe you can give us some ideas as far as what to look for next time (if there is a next time that is). I'm half tempted to never shop there again. You can send your photos to myspace.com/skylarmagazine or you can send them to me at http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100001118035795.

Celebrity Pet Peeves

Have you ever found something in photos of celebs that just really irritate you? It's not just celebs though, I see people on My Space doing these things too.

1. PDA

Holding hands and looking like you are in love is one thing and you don't have to be all over each other to do so. However, I can't stand tacky PDA of any sort whether it's on the Red Carpet or in a bar. It is really nausiating, not to mention a major buzz kill.

Take it to a hotel room...please!

This is probably the most memorable and most
nausiating PDA moment of all time for me.

I love Jessica Simpson, but this really makes my stomach turn.
 2. Stuck Up Photos

I'm sure Hollywood is filled with arrogance and of course it is natural to be that way if you are constantly being photographed and told how great you are. One of my biggest pet peeves though is when I see pictures of movie stars or rockstars with their noses in the air and acting as if they are so superior. It is not the arrogance that bothers me, because as I said in Hollywood it is to be expected, but there are some who have giant egos, but are able to hide it better.

Aside from her ego, what is up with all that makeup?
Miley use to be so cute and sweet.

3. Stupid Hand Gestures

This is so wrong...but it is fantastic! Gotta
love it.

Whether they are waving, giving a thumbs up or a peace sign or flipping the bird this just really bugs me for some reason. It's not that I don't appreciate them trying to be friendly or don't support peace, to me it just looks very hammy and I'm not much of a fan of hamming it up for the camera, famous or not!

You will notice Miley is mentioned a lot in this
post. She fits most of the categories and
makes more gestures than anyone I have
ever seen.

I love these two, they both seem to be very humble and they are
a great couple. I truly hope they will have a long lasting
marriage. I just think the pic is too hammy.

It doesn't get any classier than this.

These next 2 photos take the cake. It is bad enough when celebrities do it, but for some reason when it is our own Presidents it's just not right.

4. Bad Attitudes

I can totally understand why celebs lose their cool when it comes to the Paparazzi, it may be part of the business but we are all human and if any one of us was being harassed on a day to day basis like they are I think we would all do the same thing occasionally. It has to take a toll on you at some point. While watching E News last night, which I swore I wasn't going to do until they stopped talking about a certain reality show I can't stand, I was ready to lose my cool when I watched the Shutterbugs stalking Lindsay Lohan in a parking garage. The questions and comments were just so heartless and downright cruel, I can see how someone might snap.

The thing that bothers me though is when celebs bring their bad attitudes to the Red Carpet and you can see it written all over their faces in their photos. If you are so angry at the world and so unhappy with your life and don't want to be photographed or are going to snub the reporters then I suggest you just stay home or better yet, maybe you shouldn't be famous.

5. Bad Hygiene and Grooming

I have seen so many photos of celebs whose hygiene and grooming is so bad I can smell the BO just by looking at their pictures. It's not like they can't afford soap or good clean water and they have plenty of people who can help them with their grooming. It's just a total turn off when a celeb goes out with stringy unkept hair and they look like they slept in the clothes.

I'm sure the ladies are going to hate me for this, but I'm sorry
I just don't get the appeal of this man. He's just not my
cup of tea. I like my men rugged but clean-cut.

Keanu is such a nice-looking
guy when he's all cleaned
up, but the greasy look
just doesn't suit
him.

What happened to you David Schwimmer! I'm not into
beards at all. A little facial hair like current hottie
Bradley Cooper is fine, but this is too much.

They really are perfect for each other.

6. Posy Pictures

Victoria Beckham Singer and model Victoria Beckham poses as she launches dVb, Denim and Sunglasses at Saks Fifth Avenue June 14, 2007 in New York City.

I think I inherrited this pet peeve from my grandma. She hated when people posed in photos. Not to brag or anything, but my grandma was a beautiful women even in her 80s. I honestly think she could have been a movie star in her younger days, she was so stunning and elegant. She never really liked having her photo taken, but when she did she always looked amazing. She wasn't a ham, she didn't pose or make silly faces, it was as if the camera wasn't even there and it just came naturally to her. Lets just say even though she didn't care for the camera so much, the camera loved her. I have noticed a lot of celebrities who do love the camera too much and it shows. I have seen plenty of beautiful photos of celebrities who know how to take natural good-looking pictures, but I often think a lot of them are way too posy and over the top.

Normally she looks adorable and classy, but even
the good ones can turn into hams at times.

This is my biggest pet peeve
when it comes to posing.
I hate the kissy face!

Shia Labeouf Posing
Shia you are a very sexy man, I would totally pass out
if I ever met you, but what's up with this pic?
I'm sure you are just trying to be cute
so I will let it slide this time.

It's hit or miss with Beyonce, she can take
awesome photos, but then she gets a
little too posy sometimes too.
