| I love Polka Dots, but this is just gross! And, what is up with that gigantic bow! |
Normally my trips to Kohls are pretty disappointing, they have some cute garments for the more dressy occassions, but there really aren't a lot of options when it comes to casual wear. Still, I usually find at least 1 or 2 stylish garments that I can wear for any occassion. That wasn't the case on Saturday when I was looking for something to wear for my evening out with the girls. I left the store not only empty handed but totally bummed! Being unemployed and not having the money to splurge is depressing so I was excited when I recieved money for Christmas and decided I would use some of it on clothes which I need for job searching and to go out in. At the moment my wardrobe is not very up-to-date and I have put on a few pounds and I only have one pair of jeans that fit right now.
Having money turned out to be pretty pointless. I guess in a way it's not such a bad thing, at least I still have money to spend when I need to and hopefully I will have much better luck elsewhere. I was looking for a nice pair of jeans that I could dress up and also to just wear casually and a nice top to go with them. Being that I am short and don't have Supermodel legs and have hips and a bum it makes it difficult to find pants that fit or flatter my figure. I pulled 3 pairs of jeans from the shelves that I had found, none of which I was all that thrilled with. Maybe I'm just really picky, but I really hate the back pockets they put on them now a days. Are those silly looking squiggly lines and zig-zags really necessary? I don't really like anything on my pockets, I hate any kind of label like that stupid one Guess uses or use to use (not sure if they still do that or not).

| See what I mean about the pockets? I hate that! |
I tried the first pair on and could not even get them over my hips. What happened to the stretchy jeans? They were so comfortable and it was so much easier to try them on and get them back off. And not to brag, but they made my bum look really good. Why did they stop making those? In any event, at that point I just decided to give up on the jeans altogether, I lost my energy and wasn't about to try on all 3 pairs. And those mirrors do nothing for anyones self-esteem. You could be the most confident individual in the world, but after seeing yourself in those mirrors you leave the store thinking you are the most unattractive looking person on the planet. I know I have put on weight and if you saw me you would think my skin had never seen the sun, but I do not have that much cellulite and I don't think I'm that pasty either. Not only do those mirrors and that awful lighting make your skin look pasty, it also makes it look yellowish as if you have jaundice or something. Yuck!
After my jean drama I decided to move on. I looked through the entire store hoping to find a nice sweater or shirt to go with the one pair of jeans I have that actually do fit me, but no luck there either. I was pretty appalled with the color sellection and I don't think I have ever seen such ugly prints and patterns. Seriously, it looked like my cats threw up all over half of the garments in the store. Not only were the colors hideous the clothes themselves were just not becoming at all. Oh and the handbag and shoe sellection is ridiculous.
Examples...
So, I guess you could say it was a bad day at Kohls, but it all worked out in the end. I found a sweater I bought last year and it worked out just fine with the pieces I paired with it. I would much rather wear things I have had for the past 3-5 years than be caught dead in any of the new stuff I've been seeing lately. Is it just me or has Kohls just gone completely fug?
I'd like to hear from you. Tell me about your shopping experiences at Kohls. What do you think of their products and what was the last thing you bought from the store? Were you happy with your purchase? Feel free to take and submit photos of what you have bought or you can even model them? Maybe you can give us some ideas as far as what to look for next time (if there is a next time that is). I'm half tempted to never shop there again. You can send your photos to myspace.com/skylarmagazine or you can send them to me at http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100001118035795.
